Buckeye resident joins largest choir at BJU

Sarah Witter of Buckeye was selected for Bob Jones University’s University Singers, BJU’s largest choir. She is majoring in piano pedagogy.

BJU is a Christian liberal arts school in Greensville, SC. It serves 3,000 students from all 50 states and 40 countries.


Goodyear offers preschool classes

The Goodyear Recreation Department is offering a new preschool from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Oct. 8 to Nov. 7. Classes will be at the Goodyear Community Center, 420 E. Loma Linda Blvd. Cost is $120 for residents and $150 for non-residents.

Classes offer activities such as letter and number recognition, shapes, colors, seasons and other preschool principles. Children will participate in exercises, arts and crafts, story time, science, safety topics, games and songs. Snacks will also be provided.

Spelling Bee enrollment under way

The Arizona Educational Foundation will host the 2014 Arizona Spelling Bee March 29. The Bee will showcase the state’s top 27 spellers. In order to participate, schools must enroll with the Scripps National Spelling Bee online at by Oct. 15. The enrollment fee is $120; $89 for home school.
