Registration open for adult classes in Avondale
The city of Avondale is offering a variety of adult classes in January such as exercise, health and safety.
The city has also partnered with Home Depot for Do It Yourself projects, Credit Union West for a financial series and Corral West for equestrian classes.
In addition, Estrella Mountain Community College is offering 12 college courses covering topics from art to eating gluten free to cyber bullying and safety.

RAVE Review now available
The city of Avondale’s RAVE (Resources, Activities, Venues and Entertainment) Review is now available.
The latest edition, which spotlights upcoming classes, activities, programs and special events in Avondale from January through April, is available online at www.avondale.org/RAVE.
Avondale and Valley residents can pick up a copy at City Hall or at any Avondale public facility including the libraries and the community center.
Avondale hosting public art master plan open house
The city of Avondale is hosting a public art master plan open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Sam Garcia Library, 495 E. Western Ave.
The public is invited to participate in a discussion about the City Public Arts Master Plan’s goals and objectives.

Artist in residence at the Wigwam
The Wigwam will be hosting an artist in residence program at the resort’s sun lounge.
From Jan. 3 to 5, artist in residence will be Veronica Verdugo-Lomeli; Jan. 10 to 12 Michele B. Schuck; Jan. 17 to 19 Judy Bihary; and Jan. 24 to 26 Dottie Mitchell.
Artists will be at the sun lounge from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays, 4 to 8 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
Each artist will have art work for sale.
The resort is at 300 E. Wigwam Blvd., Litchfield Park.

Avondale’s Legislative Link workshop announced
The city of Avondale is offering a free legislative program to keep residents informed of laws being proposed at the state level that may affect the city.
To kick off the legislative session, Avondale will host a workshop to teach participants about how a bill becomes a law and how to track legislation through the online Arizona Legislative Information System.
Avondale’s Legislative Link will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Avondale Civic Center Library, 11350 W. Civic Center Drive.

Leadership West recruiting for class
Leadership West is hosting a mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. at Taps Park West,
The organization is inviting candidates and alumni to find out more about its Class XXI in a casual atmosphere. Attendees can learn about the Leadership West experience, what it has done for alumni personally and professionally and how the organization impacts communities and our state.
The mixer is free for candidates, dues-paying alumni and their guests. For all others, the cost is $20 per person.
