A seventh-grader was airlifted to a nearby hospital after falling off of some playground equipment Jan. 30 at Ruth Fisher Elementary in Tonopah, district officials said.

The pupil fell from the equipment onto his shoulder and head at about 1 p.m., Saddle Mountain Unified School District Superintendent Mark Joraanstad said.

He lost consciousness for approximately 20 seconds, and later complained of dizziness to the school nurse, Joraanstad said.

The pupil was then airlifted around 3 p.m. to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a severe concussion, he said.

The pupil was admitted to the hospital for two nights before his release Saturday. He was back in school Monday, Joraanstad said.
