Registration open for youth theater camp
The city of Goodyear is hosting the Comedy of Art Youth Theater Camp for students in sixth through 12 grades.
The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday July 7 to 18 at Estrella Foothills High School, 13033 S. Estrella Parkway, Goodyear.
Students will learn various acting styles and behind-the-scenes aspects of theater including sound, lighting, costuming and set design.
Registration is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Goodyear Parks and Recreation office, 3075 N. Litchfield Road. The cost is $100 per person plus registration fee.

Avondale changes fireworks rules
The city of Avondale has made changes to its ordinance regarding the sale and use of consumer fireworks within city limits.
The sale of consumer fireworks is permitted in Avondale during the periods of May 20 to July 6 and Dec. 10 to Jan. 3 of each year.
The use of consumer fireworks will now be permitted in Avondale during the periods of June 24 to July 6 and Dec. 24 to Jan 3.
Under the ordinance, the sale of fireworks to children younger than 16 is prohibited. The sale or use of any illegal fireworks in the city is subject to a fine of $1,000 for each violation.
