Tolleson City Council vacancy announced
The Tolleson City Council has a vacancy.
Anyone interested in applying must be 18 years or older, a qualified elector living in Tolleson and with established residency in the city for at least a year.
Applicants must submit a letter of interest and resume by July 31 to: The city of Tolleson, City Clerk Department, 9555 W. Van Buren St., Tolleson, AZ 85353.

Once filled, the appointment will last until December 2016.

Buckeye library launches Food for Fines program
The Buckeye Public Library, 310 N. Sixth St., Buckeye, is accepting donations of cans and other non-perishable food items in exchange for overdue library fines. The library’s Food for Fines program will benefit All Faith Community Services. For each non-perishable item donated, $1 will be deducted from a customer’s fine, up to $50. Tolleson awarded grant for passenger safety
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety recently awarded the Tolleson Fire Department a grant to fund the training and certification of two police officers and six firefighters as Certified Passenger Safety Technicians. In addition to training and certification money, the fire department was awarded $10,000 to purchase car seats that will be given to members of the community who need new ones.
