Welcome to the Business Briefcase, folks!
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Feb. 2, Groundhog Day, so it looks like we’ll be seeing another six weeks of winter.
Who am I kidding? It’s slated to be more than 80 degrees by the end of the week! Your Briefcase host thought about wearing shorts and taking sunblock into headquarters today, but decided against it. Not a very professional look.
I also didn’t see any news of Bill Murray, the actor from Groundhog Day, as well as a few other small roles, in attendance. I would have figured he has a lifetime pass to the ceremony. I guess early February is not a great time to travel to the northeast United States.
Anyway, here’s some news on things happening in our warm neck of the woods.
We’ll start with some quick items out in Buckeye.
The northeast corner of Yuma and Watson roads will eventually be a car wash facility with other various retail. The details of the exact company putting in the car wash are not known at this time. The 9.27-acre property was recently purchased for approximately $2.62 million.
Summit Community Lutheran Church has purchased a 38.25-acre property at the southeast corner of Roosevelt Street and Verrado Way for $1.66 million. Construction is slated to get underway once the first phase of fundraising has been met, according to Buckeye city officials.
SimonMed Imaging is going through tenant improvements at its new location in Sundance Towne Center off Watson Road, south of Interstate 10. The medical image providers have two other locations in the West Valley, in Goodyear at 13657 W. McDowell Road, Suite 111, and in Avondale at 10815 W. McDowell Road, Suite 102.
In Avondale, Tokyo Joe’s is now open at 10285 W. McDowell Road, Suite A100, next to Visionworks.
Tokyo Joe’s is a healthy Japanese eatery that opened its first location in Colorado in 1996. It has six locations in Arizona, including Avondale, and many more all over Colorado and Texas in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Tokyo Joe’s is open from 10:45 a.m. to 9:05 p.m. seven days a week. That’s five extra minutes if you get a late-night craving! How nice of them.
For information, visit tokyojoes.com or call the Avondale location at 602-883-4952.
KPS Global opened its newest facility Jan. 26 at 3801 S. Cotton Lane in Goodyear.
KPS Global manufactures walk-in refrigerators and freezers, and was formed in late 2015 as the result of a merger between Kysor Panel Systems and Hill Phoenix Walk-Ins. That sounds like a lot of technical mumbo-jumbo, so we’ll just focus on the walk-in refrigeration portion from here on out.
KPS Global will invest more than $2.3 million into the new facility, which was completed in December 2016, according to a press release.
