Szewc, last year’s top player, was the only Owl to graduate from last year’s squad, which finished second in the West Valley Region tournament and 18th at the state tourney.

Hawks’ swimmers have competitive edge

Juniors Davis Botma and Brian Choitz fuel that competitive fire, as the two battle for the team’s swimmer of the year award, which goes to the person who earns the most points in team competition.

“These two have been neck and neck since they shared the rookie of the year award when they were freshman,” Buckeye assistant coach and Brian’s mother Kathy Choitz said.
