View report
Buckeye's public pool has been closed until Friday after the water tested positive for a small number of intestinal parasite spores.
Legend Technical Services found three spores of the intestinal parasite cryptosporidium in tests of the pool, according to a press release.
The results were very low, but the pool was closed and will be super chlorinated as a precaution.
The pool will reopen Friday for open swim from 5:45 to 9 p.m.
The following information comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Web site:
The intestinal parasite cryptosporidium can infect people and animals.
The most common symptom of cryptosporidiosis is watery diarrhea. Other symptoms can include stomach cramps or pain, dehydration, nausea, vomiting, fever or weight loss.
Symptoms of cryptosporidiosis generally begin two to 10 days (average seven days) after becoming infected with the parasite.
In people with healthy immune systems, symptoms usually last about one to two weeks.
